The sons, Michael and Santino run the family business with the help of consigliere Tom Hagen and the two caporegime Peter Clemenza and Salvatore Tessio.

A series of unfortunate events lead to a full scale war and the murder of Santino followed by Michael's ascension to full power. The Godfather is a classic novel of the cold-blooded world of the Mafia with murders, legacy, greed and tradition. About the Author

About the Author: Mario Gianluigi Puzo was born in New York in a poor Italian family. He graduated from the City College of New York and later joined the United States Army Forces in World War II. He wrote his first short story, The Last Christmas, which got published in the American Vanguard. Puzo wrote his first book, The Dark Arena post the World War II. Before writing his well known book The Godfather, he worked as a writer/editor for publisher Martin Goodman’s Magazine Management Company during the period of 1950s to early 1960s. Puzo died in the year 1999 after a heart failure.
